SO YOU’RE ENGAGED… NOW WHAT?!

First of all congratulations! It’s always such lovely news when someone gets engaged! This is one of the next stages of your life and you should really enjoy it as much as you can. Whether you are looking at having a short engagement, an average length one (whatever that could be) or a long one, the first few weeks are definitely the most exciting.
You’ll find that unknowingly you are now the centre of attention at home, at work, with friends. If you’re anything like me, this will be very unexpected and my advice is to instead of shying away from it (because this is your automatic reaction), you should definitely embrace it. This is your time and you should enjoy it as much as you can!
So what now?!…
1. Tell your people!…
Parents, siblings, best friends…. Anyone that you value in your life. You don’t want to run the risk of upsetting anyone by reading it on social media before they’ve heard from you or from someone else. Give them a call and let them know your amazing news! If anything, they’ll just be as excited as you but be prepared to tell your story over and over again – everyone is going to want to know how they proposed!
2. Get a manicure…
Your ring is going to be in the spotlight for the next few weeks, so your hands will get a lot of attention. You’ll feel a lot happier showing off your ring if you aren’t embarrassed about your fingernails.

3. Post a ring selfie…
It’s a great way of letting EVERYONE know in your network, without having to tell them directly. Be prepared for lots of likes and lots of congratulations! You’ll love the attention and how nice everyone is and you’ll find that people that you may have not spoken to in years, will even say a few happy words. What could be nicer than that!
4. Get your ring insured!…
This is definitely one of the important steps! The last thing you need (or want) is for your ring to go missing or for a diamond or stone to fall out. Getting it insured, ensures yours and your partners’ peace of mind.
5. Celebrate, celebrate, celebrate!…
Have every celebration possible! Family, friends, work! Indulge indulge indulge! The next party you’ll have is the bachelorette party and then after that is your wedding. If you’re looking at spreading this across a year or 2, then you won’t get to celebrate again until the bachelorette, which is closer to the wedding than your engagement. So make the most of it!
